Caring for Baby Birds
- If you find a baby bird on the ground, look for its nest and put the bird back into it.If the mother bird hasn’t come back after two hours, she isn’t going to return.
- Pick the bird up with a tea towel, covering its eyes to keep it calm. Place it in a small box that has rags or a towel at the bottom. Cover the box with a towel to keep the bird warm. You can also put a wheat pack or hot-water bottle under the box to keep it warm.
- You need to feed the baby bird every two hours from dawn till dusk. Use a matchstick to feed it. Put the matchstick by the side of its mouth, not at the front of its beak.
- When the bird is feeding by itself, it's time to let it go. A tame bird won’t last long in the wild, so handle it as little as possible.
